Columbia Journal Presents: A Reading at KGB Bar

Join us for an Evening with Columbia Journal at KGB Bar in New York City on October 30, 2018, starting at 7 pm! The reading will feature work from writers who help create the Journal and those who help to guide it, including:

Elissa Schappell is an Assistant Professor in the Graduate Writing Program at Columbia University and a Faculty Advisor to Columbia Journal. She is the author of two books of fiction, Use Me, a New York Times Notable Book and runner up for the PEN Hemingway Award, and Blueprints for Building Better Girls, chosen as one of the “Best Books of the Year” by The San Francisco Chronicle, The Boston Globe, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and O. She is a Contributing Editor at Vanity Fair, former Senior Editor of The Paris Review and a Founding-editor, now Editor-at-Large of Tin House.

Kate Greene is a poet, essayist and former laser physicist whose work has been published. She dreams of Mars and of Earth and lives in New York City. Kate is the Poetry Editor of Columbia Journal.

Chelsea Roberts will read “Tattoo” by Jacob Lee Davis and “Making Sausage: My Ugly Writing Process” by Steve Schoff. Chelsea Roberts is the Community Outreach Manager for Columbia Journal.

Katie Shepherd grew up in North Carolina and is a second-year nonfiction MFA student at Columbia University. Her work has been featured in the New York Times‘ Modern Love, LitHub, and Flaunt and is forthcoming at BUST. She produces podcasts and writes scripts. Katie is currently the Executive Producer of NYU Production Lab’s podcast, LabCast, an Editorial Assistant at ELLE, and Online Nonfiction Editor of Columbia Journal.

Liz von Klemperer is a writer, and acts as the Online Fiction Editor of Columbia Journal. Her reviews and interviews have been featured in The Rumpus, Electric Literature, Lambda Literary, and Tin House. Visit her at lizvk.com.
